Word and Life --  Winter-Spring, 2013

A New Harmony: The Spirit, the Earth,
and the Human Soul
(Jossey-Bass, 2011)

by John Philip Newell

Newell explores the ancient harmony that is deep in the matter of the universe, the essential interconnectedness of all things. Everything, whether the expanding light of distant galaxies or humanity's inner light of mind and consciousness, carries within itself the life of the universe's shared beginning. With keen insight and sensitivity, he confronts the brokenness of our harmony, as individuals and families and as nations and species.

All sessions, unless otherwise noted, will be on Thursdays from 10 AM to 12 noon at the
First Presbyterian Church, 21 E. Constance Ave., Santa Barbara, CA.

How To Be an Adult in Love:

Letting Love in Safely and Showing it Recklessly

Five May Mornings With
David Richo, Ph.D.

I say yes to everything that happens to me today
as an opportunity to give and receive love without reserve.
I am thankful for the enduring capacity to love that has come to me from the
Sacred Heart of the universe.
May everything that happens to me today open my heart more and more.
May all that I think, say, feel, and do express loving-kindness toward myself,
those close to me, and all beings.
May love be my life purpose, my bliss, my destiny, the richest grace I can
receive or give.
And may I always be especially compassionate toward those who are lost or
least, lone or last.

David Richo, Ph.D., M.F.T., is a psychotherapist, teacher, workshop leader, and writer who works in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California. He combines Jungian, transpersonal, and mythic perspectives in his work.
